There is no Ryzen 3 3200. There are Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X without integrated graphics, and the Ryzen 3 3200G with integrated graphics. I have the Ryzen 5 3400G, which is the same as the 3200G, but with hyperthreading and more graphics cores. I don't have a graphics card, but use the integrated graphics of the 3400G, and it runs nicely with Mint 20.1 Cinnamon on default kernel 5.4.

fwiw, i have a AMD Ryzen 3 3200U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx that runs the "live" version just fine. haven't installed it on that computer, yet, but no issues running the live version all day long.

I seem to remember LanceM using that CPU. Let's see if he objects to being summoned...

I'm the same as DPM. I have the same APU (AMD Ryzen 5 3400G) and works perfectly out of the box on default 5.4 kernel. Games run, temperatures are fine, everything is good.

I'd be more concerned about the mobo, in particular the ethernet chip. There are quite some threads here about Realtek chips. I have a mobo with Intel I211 gigabit chip, and that works nicely. The mobo is Asus B450-F which has somewhat weak voltage regulators, but totally fine for a 65W chip.

The OP can tell us the mobo in mind and we can research it a bit.

I need to correct my post on the 3200G. I looked in my journal and it was a 3400G. I did try a 3200G when it first appeared on the shelves at Newegg. I had trouble with it and couldn't get the installer to boot. It might be fine with the newer Mint. That might of been 18.x

Hi all,

I just started using Linux Mint 20.10 Cinnamon. It's installed in a system with the Ryzen 3 3200G and an A320 Motherboard. So far it is running good from the initial install about 4 days ago. Mind you I am still new at this but so far so good.

Kernel: 5.4.0-74-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Cinnamon 4.8.6

I'm thinking of ASRock B450M Pro 4 based on the fact that an intel build with Pentium G5400 and ASRock H310CM-HDV which has the same lan-ethernet chip works fine.

But to tell the truth I don't care much about this. It's going to be an offline machine.
I have the Gigabyte B450M S2H. Most of the entry level B450 motherboards should be fine, they are very common. Make sure to update the BIOS.

Does AMD Ryzen 3 3200G running LM 20.1 work with integrated graphics? Yes, if you upgrade the kernal to 5.8 or 5.10.

I have an AMD Ryzen 3 3200G on a MSI Tomahawk MAX 2 motherboard utilizing motherboard HDMI for video output.

I had zero issues installing 20.1 5.4 from USB. No bios updates needed. I did find however that with 5.4 YouTube video output had a lot of scrambling. Updating to 5.8 solved this issue. Now running 5.10 (20.1 Cinnamon).

Hi. I'm using this CPU and my display is okay as long as until there's some video on the web page, and then the screen turns into fireworks and is basically unusable. I'm new to Linux and would appreciate it if someone could scan my drivers/setup to make sure there's no obvious hardware/software mismatch. Thanks

I know this is your 1st post and we try to help you get started right, so you need to start your own thread. The moderators frown on highjacking a thread. I'm sure someone will help you if you do that.

You are running the 5.4 kernel, and need to upgrade to the 5.8 or 5.10 to alleviate this problem.

It is the exact thing I ran into when I installed 20.1 which installs the 5.4 kernal, with the same chip you have. Upgrading to 5.8 and or 5.10 fixed the video issue.

Why not? Linux works very fine on a Ryzen CPU and AMD graphics. It is especially good as the graphics drivers are open supply and work absolutely with things like Wayland desktops and are almost as fast as Nvidia with no need their closed resource binary only drivers.
