Hi everyone, this morning I replaced my Windows 10 with Linux Mint 20.1 Cinnamon. Now, in terms of speed, i wasn't expecting a miracle because my laptop is getting quite old and only works with the ac cable on, since the battery is dead. But the machine seems quite laggy and unstable, i was wondering if there was something that i could do to make it a little faster. I've only being using Linux from a couple of hours, so I'm a complete newbie
The other problem, which concerns me a little more, is the low volume. I've been watching videos on Youtube and the audio is barely hearable. Now, i remember I had this problem also on Windows, but with the installation of the IDT Audio driver (which i had pre-installed on this laptop) I had a noticeable boost. Is there something i can do on Linux to boost my audio -i already tried to boost to 150% with pulseaudio.
Thanks in advance, I will appreciate your help.

Re: [New to Linux]Need help with slow speed and low volume.
@cerozz96 Well it's fairly old hardware, with a spinning drive, so things are probably gonna be a bit slow. Maybe try Mint XFCE instead of Cinnamon.

@spamegg Thank you, I installed XFCE and it seems to run smoother
