usb tuner dvb-t pinnacle hybrid pro 320e SOLVED

Post by chriskan22 »

Hi , i found an old usb dvb-t pinnacle hybrid pro tv tuner and i am plugging it in , in order to scan and view channels from an antenna connected directly to the usb. Kaffeine recognizes it as zarlink zl10353 dvb-t but does not search for channels (in win10 it works out of the box but i prefer linux mint)). Any help would be appreciated
Here are info about the issue

Please turn the [c]...[/c] into
...
. Former are for inline code blocks and with as much text as you've pasted in your post is barely readable.

Okay; it's usually a matter of the correct firmware not being available but that seems to here not be the case. We do see the driver stumbling over something trying to tune frequency 0 which seems to suggest broken scanning software. It's been a while since I've used TV tuners but when I did, the most basic method was, after sudo apt-get install w-scan,

Code: Select all

w_scan -ft -c DE -L >channels.xspf
while adjusting the country code DE (Germany) for yours. If that seems to work better, subsequently vlc channels.xspf would allow you to view found stations.

Note; yes, w_scan and/or VLC may be not to your liking, but what this'll say is if something is fundamentally broken or if it's just your scanner/viewer.

An even quicker test is to start vlc, go Media, Open Capture device, choose TV - Digital in the capture mode dropdown, make sure the device selection is correct and enter the frequency of your TV broadcaster in kHz. You may have to set the bandwidth (in MHz) as well, but try the default automatic to start.

My ancient Pinnacle 73 usb tv stick works this way.
