[SOLVED] Mint 20.1 oversized main menu when using external monitor

Post by psg9196 »

Hi,

Both my external monitor and the internal laptop display support 3840 x 2160 resolution.
As the internal display is only 15" I scale it to 200% to become effective resolution 1920 x 1080.
The external monitor is 27", so I want to keep it at 2560 x 1440 unscaled and arranged on top of the laptop display.

Whenever I plug-in the external monitor (either on the display port or on the HDMI) and click on the Mint menu - the menu panel is sized and positioned incorrectly end shows partially in the external monitor.

The only way I can keep it the same as without the external monitor is if I set both to 3840 x 2160 unscaled and set "User interface scale" to "Double (Hi-DPI).

How can I fix this?

Here is part of the screenshot of the entire system - the laptop display ends where the vertical black band ends at the bottom-right portion of the snippet and the external monitor begins where the light-green color of the mint forum begins:
