Custom resolution?

Postby dncheu » Wed Oct 28, 2009 11:58 pm

I installed Linux Mint 7 and I've been trying to set a custom resolution because I'm using it as an HTPC and sending it to my HDTV. I tried modifying the xorg.conf file but it doesn't like what I did and defaults it back to 800x600. Right now I can set it to a standard 1280x720 but it turns out my TV"s resolution is slightly smaller and so the edges are clipped. Ideally I'd like to set it to 1176x664 (this is what I used in WIndows XP and it fit nicely)

Here's my file. Any help is greatly appreciated!

First the hardware data as seen by the OS
In terminal, check
    inxi -G
    Graphics card, xserver data
And are the settings in xorg correct for that output device ... 31959.html

Code: Select all

Option "TVStandard" "HD1080p"
What does nvidia-settings offer as resolution settings ?
    sudo nvidia-settings
    --from the terminal
    gksu nvidia-settings
    --from the desktop
