How to get rid of aspect ratio stretching? (Mint 20.2)

Post by zeto2103 »

Trying to play an old RPGMaker game in Wine and while it runs well, I can't really play it because it only runs in 640x480 (the window is really small on a 1080p monitor) and going into fullscreen stretches it to fill the screen. I want to run it with black bars in fullscreen, and easyrpg-player did it somehow with other games (but it's not an option with this one since the engine is newer). I couldn't find aspect ratio settings anywhere in the system. Solutions I found on the internet are either for older systems or just don't work. I'm using a laptop (the output is from integrated Intel GPU) with an external monitor (it doesn't have a setting to fix stretching). What can I do to fix the fullscreen aspect ratio?
