Post by skris88 »

Sorry Deepak, it was not obvious to a beginner like me to understand I have to install "cheese" from your first response.

And your kurt second response is why every few years I try, and then give up, on Linux. Do I have to give up again? Come on, is this a Support Forum or not? It doesn't cost much for experts to be nice to newbies. What's the world coming to??!

Anyway I'll try and install cheese. I'm guessing it would be...

sudo apt install cheese

...fingers crossed!

Stay tuned.

Hi Deepak.

No, you were not disrespectful. Just very kurt. Not even a please or thank you. Like, "Why send a photo, idiot!" Well, is cheese automatically included with Mint? Why would an "expert" assume a beginner would have it then?

The problem with Linux is how beginners are treated. And your kurt response was not the first time for me either. This sort of attitude has been going on for years. And I then, like a fool, keep trying another distro - again and again. Plus, I don't think my questions were ever too rude or abrupt to have received such responses.

And, of course I know your offer to help is free.

Anyway, please consider this closed: I installed Linux Lite over my Linux Mint partition, and the problem has gone away.

Thanks for trying to "help".

Good luck in your future "support".
