Linux mint is running too slow and hanging while pasting any file or installing a new package

Hi i am new in linux i have a very old laptop i just move to linux after windows 7 is expired somebody on the internet said that linux work faster than windows and is best for multi tasking but what i saw is just opposite. linux mint 19.3 is runing too slow in my machine while installing any package and while pasting files to my external hard drive. i don't know what is the problem here is there any driver missing plz help i am noob in linux world. :cry: :|

Indeed. I wouldn't be using the Cinnamon desktop with that CPU, and its 2 GBs RAM with integrated graphics. Also, I would be using a 64-bit OS for a 64-bit CPU.

If you'd like to stay with Linux Mint, I'd suggest LM 19.2 Xfce, which defaults to the 4.15 kernel, which may do better with that older hardware.
