I'm not going to say don't buy a book, but when I started I bought this:

Problem is, they date very quickly. That one got consigned to recycling long ago.
There is no 'all in one' guide 'beginner all the way to advanced', but there are lots of free resources out there. Depends on what you want to learn, be more specific and you will get better advice.
