OK, so it's not that hard.

Download a live iso, burn it on a usb stick as an iso. Boot to the iso, to try it out. Turn off "secure boot" in bios. If you want to install it, it's not a bad idea to dual boot, so you can slowly wean yourself off windows. You shouldn't need to play around with the command line. if you follow the installation instructions carefully

If after testing with the live usb you would like to install mint I suggest to install it on another disk and before mint installation disconnect your windows disk and reconnect after. To chhose what os you need when you boot press they keyboard key that according to your motherboard's manual will let you choose from which disk to boot. Without doing so you will boot to windows. This is a totally safe way that does not interfere with windows at all and you can experiment with no danger concerning your data and your windows installation. On motherboard firmware/uefi/bios settings you must disable secure boot and fast boot for a successful installation of mint or any other distro.

For using mint there is nothing special you should know, just use it. 99.9 of things can be done with a gui. If you have hardware acceleration problems, common with amd, open update manager and install a newer series kernel. Right now the default is 5.4 and you should install 5.11

If you want to install on the same disk things are more complicated. I don't suggest it. If you want to do it this way google and read about partitions and boot manager. Read recent articles about Ubuntu 20 and Linux Mint 20.
