Re: Configure a second monitor
Welcome to the forum, Feysl.
The graphics drivers for Intel are included in the kernel and you do not need to install other drivers. It appears you installed an "intel" driver package and that may be causing problems.
Graphics:
Device-1: Intel UHD Graphics 630 vendor: ASUSTeK driver: i915 v: kernel
bus ID: 00:02.0
Device-2: NVIDIA TU116M [GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile] vendor: ASUSTeK
driver: nouveau v: kernel bus ID: 01:00.0
Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.8 driver: intel resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz
OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 10.0.0 256 bits) v: 3.3 Mesa 20.0.8
direct render: Yes
The driver I marked in red should say
modesetting
and not intel
. Remove the intel driver package you installed and then reboot and give us the output of
inxi -Gx
. If you still have your installation usb/dvd, you can boot to a live session of Mint and run the
inxi -Gx
command to see the driver is supposed to be modesetting.Once you get that driver correct, try the external monitor again.
If it does not work, then you will need to install and properly load the Nvidia driver to get the external monitor to work. We can explain more about that once you finish making the other changes.
