How Change Screen Resoltuion?

Post by mawil1013 »

[SOLVED] In Ubuntu I simply clicked on open screen to get resolution change so that every thing open was bigger and easy to read.

How can I change it on Mint?

Look at MENU > All Apps for Display(s), there you can change the resolution.
Mint 20.0, and 21.0 MATE on Thinkpads, 3 X T420, T450, T470, and X200

Yep, did that, went into display and nothing that I did allowed me to change screen resolution.

Please give us information about your install by entering this command in a terminal: inxi -Fxxxrz
Click </> from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply and then place your cursor between the code markers and paste the results of the command between the code markers
Results
. This will let us know how Mint sees your hardware.

Yes, those problems are related. You can not change the resolution until the graphics driver is installed.

If it checks and says no driver are needed, is there anyway forward?

Did you upgrade the kernel like I instructed you to do in the other thread?

Instructions for upgrading to the 5.11 kernel:
 • Open Update Manager.
 • Select View > Linux Kernels and click Continue.
 • Make sure 5.11 is selected on the left panel and then click the top-most option on the right panel. An "Install" button will appear.
 • Install the kernel and then reboot for it to become active.
If you upgrade the kernel, it should not tell you to check for drivers because they will be installed. Please give us the output of inxi -SMGCx.
