control motorized camera software

Post by offir »

I have a motorized camera that is connected to the computer via a usb cable
http://pakcomputerz.blogspot.com/2009/0 ... ebcam.html
With the camera came software called
smart cam plus
In the software interface I could move the camera right or left
Down or up
And zoom in or zoom out

Now I want to use the camera with Linux (my current computer)
Linux Mint Mate 20.1 (Ulyssa)

The computer recognizes the camera by name
NHJ, Ltd CCD Webcam(PC370R)
And the camera is working (I checked with vlc)
I am looking for software that will allow me to control the camera as in the original software

What was the software you used was it for winwoes or linux?
If the software was used in winwoes, then it will not work in linux.

As previously asked, was the program you used was it for windows? You haven't stated..
You could try the following link but it is outdated. It maybe what you are looking for. This result was done with a quick google search.

Sorry
I just saw

Yes the software is for windows
I know it will not work on Linux
Currently it is also not working on windows because it is suitable for windows 2000 and xp
So I'm looking for an alternative to Linux

After a few installation attempts from the original disk
I discovered that this software is divided into two programs
One software that functions like vlc and displays or records the camera
And a second program that always pops up on the screen when the first one is turned on and displays a small board with a few arrows that move the camera

I was able to install the second software on Windows 10
But Windows 10 does not recognize the camera
So I switched to Linux since it recognizes the camera
And the camera works with vlc
Just need software that moves the camera

If win 10 doesn't recognize it and there isn't any linux software that works they way you want it to, then I would suggest you get a new camera. Trying to run 20yr old hardware on new O/S is just not going to work no matter what operating system you use, if it doesn't run under win10 then it won't run under newer versions on windows or linux.

It works under Linux
The camera is on
I just can not move the camera
Right now it's like a simple webcam
