Sleeping with the laptop lid closed

Hello,
Laptop with Linux operating system mint 20, when closing the lid does not enter sleep mode. I am looking for a solution to the problem.

If you open System Settings (from Menu) you should find Power Management under Hardware. From there you can define what happens when the lid is closed. I think suspend is usually the default but if you set an external monitor to the primary display it may no longer be the case so you just have to change it back.

have been usinrvation of cabbagetreemog Linux (other distributions) for 9 years. Linux mint for the first time. In power management, first it was the default, then other settings, but the problem remains.answer to cabbagetremo.

Are you using a wifi mouse?
If so, can you try a wired mouse to see if the issue goes away?
This viewtopic.php?p=1767413#p1767413 is what I did, and also when I installed Mint 20.3 on a new SSD, so it does work.

I had the same problem with Linux Mint 20.2 XFCE on a Thinkpad laptop.

I reverted back to Mint 19.3 where there is no such issue.

If so, can you try a wired mouse to see if the issue goes away?

I had the same problem with Linux Mint 20.2 XFCE on a Thinkpad laptop.

I reverted back to Mint 19.3 where there is no such issue.

I'm using Linux Mint 20 on a Toshiba laptop. I'll try Mint 19.3.

I do not use xfce but I think you need to use xfconf-query - more about it here: https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfconf/xfconf-query.

xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager/logind-handle-lid-switch -n -t bool -s false

You might need to ask how to do this in the XFCE forum viewforum.php?f=57

This does not work for me. The command "systemctl suspend" - works. From the "logout" button in the menu, "suspend" also works. I have a "suspend" button in the panel and I put the laptop to sleep from it. For now I stay on this option. all these failed attempts it seems that the problem is in the lid of the laptop. It does not close nicely. There is a gap. I have to take it for repair.
