[SOLVED] Internal Hard Drive not recognized by bios or in disks

I've just built this pc entirely brand new. Scouted out the parts and triple checked compatibility and decided to switch to Linux from win 10. My Graphics card came today and I finally got everything running. Except for one thing. My 1tb Hard drive isn't found inside of bios or in disks. I've already tried checking the cables and looking for any other solutions. The hard drive is connected through sata cables but I know nothing about sata types. I even considered formatting the HDD somehow, before deciding to ask for help here first.

Please let me know what I should do in this situation / what other information you need to help! Thanks so much

In your live session usb go to Menu and type in Disks and post the results back here, if the drive is present it will show it.

Asking for help here first was a good move. I don't think reformatting would help. Bios and disks, aren't worried about format.
I don't think there's anything tricky about sata, just plug it in and bios should find it. (That's worked for me in the past)
Could this be a "secure mode" thing? I don't know enough about that to say, but in any event it should be turned off. Along with "fast start"

Yes, I think so. There is one plugged into the power supply and the other is connected to the motherboard.

Thank you, I think so too. I've read about that helping so I've already turned off both secure boot and fast boot/start with no change.

I did as asked and found only the bootable usb and my 500gb SSD.

The hard drive is mechanical and brand new. I double checked my bios settings and it's set like that. Yes, I'm wanting to install LM onto the 1tb.

I have news. When I removed the ssd and ran LM from the usb, it detected the hard drive and I've installed LM onto it. Which I thought resolved this, however, when I reinstalled the SSD.. it booted from the SSD and the HD wasn't detected any more.

I decided to include some extra info. I'm going to post both terminal cmd's. One with only the hard drive and the other with both the hard drive and ssd to hopefully help narrow down the issue.

Check the manual for your motherboard. Try moving your HDD onto a different sata port. On some systems with an M.2 drive installed, the first sata port is unavailable to the rest of the system.

This is from the manual for my B360 mobo:

While this is talking about an M.2 sata SSD, may also be applicable to an M.2 nvme.

I checked the mobo manual and as it turns out I had the m.2 ssd plugged into the 1st slot, which disabled the 5th/6th sata slots. Which is where I had the hard drive plugged into!

I moved the cable down to the 4th sata slot and turned it on. Both were seen in bios and I adjusted the boot order, now when everything turns on, in disks I see both the HD and the SSD. This fixed it! A silly wiring mistake. Thanks so much!!
