Connecting mobile to linux

Post by Gleneagles49 »

I am trying to connect my mobile phone to Linux mint 20.2
Nothing is showing when I connect it via a usb cable to a desktop PC.
I thought Wapinator might help but still nothing shows.

It a fairly old phone Nokia 2.4 smart phone.

Is there any free or paid software that will allow me to do this or even check that a link exists between the phone and the computer

What do you hope to achieve through connecting the phone? Just file transfer?

On the phone itself you'll have to set the USB connection type to "file transfer" or something like that. Depends on your version of Android.

Also, Warpinator works over wifi, so as long as you have Warpinator installed on both the phone and Linux Mint AND connected to the same wifi network, it should just work.

Got it to work with 3 boxes and android by making sure I allowed UDP at port 42000

Code: Select all

sudo ufw allow 42000/udp
All are talking to each other now.
