Computer Freeze ! What to do ?
HORRIBLE TIMES! I have these days experienced a problem
that number of times that has NEVER happened before during all the wonderful years with Linux Mint:
When I do something that seems to have to do with file management,
the computer "locks", i.e. it is not possible to do anything at all!
What is visible on the screen is still and whichever keys / combinations I try on the keyboard make no difference.
The only thing left to do is shut down the computer and restart it.
WHAT CAN THIS BE? Have I got a "virus" ????

Re: COMPUTER FREEZE ! What to do ????
No. More likely is an incorrect (graphics) driver, or other hardware instability (age or heat tend to do this, as does "bad luck" with brand new parts even -- humanity is really good with making electronics, but we're not perfect)
Check your logs that have a date/time stamp around the time of the crash. The files
/var/log/syslog#
and [/var/log/dmesg#[/c] (where "#" will most likely be a number) are your most likely candidates for where the error is logged.Re: COMPUTER FREEZE ! What to do ????
I found the file but I don´t know what to look for .
Re: COMPUTER FREEZE ! What to do ????
Hello Vilsen, please share your system info with the Terminal command
inxi -Fxmprz
Re: COMPUTER FREEZE ! What to do ????
It is very unlikely to be a virus in linux.
It's more likely to be a graphics driver problem. Please list the information about your system that spamegg asked for.

Re: COMPUTER FREEZE ! What to do ????
A failing hard disk (or SSD) has those symptoms. Open Disks and use the SMART Data and self tests to check it.

Re: Computer Freeze ! What to do ????
Most likely the problem is with your Nvidia graphic card. You need to see this from the release notes.

Additions after checking tips:
What I described has nothing to do with BOOT.
I did not write that.
But on the other hand, I have to buy a new computer for this old device that is over 10 years old is not enough
to what I'm doing.

Re: Computer Freeze ! What to do ?
Is there anyone who can suggest a computer that consists of a mini-ITX motherboard
that can handle NVMe "disks" without task butter and then which CPU with
built-in GPU can handle 4k resolution to the screen which is capable to
show buckling or busy showel .
I have due to my poor English skills always used googletranslate so if there
are any inappropriate swear curse/pejoratives that can confuse the mood
here then I unfortunately have to blame them.

Re: Computer Freeze ! What to do ?
That almost sounds like one of those "NUC" machines. But honestly, I don't really follow the "small formfactor PC" market all that closely.

Re: Computer Freeze ! What to do ?
Hey vilsen (from sweden?) any motherboard from like 2018 have nvme slots for cpu i have a intel i7-9700k would work but i don't need 4k resolution. for graphic i use a nvidia 2070 super. you don't want to use the build in graphic card its sucks better get a external graphic card. and my machine is from 2019.
