[SOLVED] Video File Reduction

Post by Justin Time »

Looking and looking I finally found a program I can use to record videos found online. One problem... it's TOO Big.

The software is named, "Screenshot" and it's pretty simple to use. The name / extension on the files is .flv and the average 48 minutes recorded produces a file that averages 1.1 GB. Is anyone aware of software I can use in the 'Software Manager' that will reduce the size of these files by 50% or more? Even a little less would save a lot of space. If not, is there any software out there that will record video files in a file format that is smaller?

Handbrake wiill do the job.
You can set the desired quality (see screenshot). The lower the quality the smaller the size of the resulting file.
I usually have to try it at various setting before getting the file size I want.
The help text box that pops up when your mouse hoovers over the slider (as shown) explains it.

Was getting ready to stamp this one 'Approved'. :D but...

I want to give a big shout-out to my friend, marts123. Handbrake works great. Reducing these 1.1 GB video files down to an average of 101.1 to 220.3 MB

The quality and lip sink of each reduced file is superb. Thanks for your input and advice, marts! 8)
