Problem with the microphone in Discord
Hi all. In my laptop (lenovo v145-15ast) microphone works well, but exactly in Discord it does not work, and if you make it louder, only one hiss and crackle.
How do I fix it so it works fine in Discord?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
Really nobody knows?
Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
With the stand-alone client or the website? You definitely have the correct microphone selected for recording, in either the client or Firefox? To check/set set the audio in the client, go to the settings, then Voice & Video, then refer to the Voice Settings section's INPUT DEVICE drop-down menu.

Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
The problem is in the client, in the browser everything is OK. In the Voice and Video tab, the sound doesn't work. None of the options work.
Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
(The same effect in telegram, but in OBS, for example, everything is fine.)

Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
Please use the "bump topic" option if you would like visibility on your issue rather than repeating posts like this. You can find the bump topic in the lower left of screen on the Topic Tools (wrench icon). Click the downward pointing triangle beside the wrench to see the "Bump topic" option.
Have you checked with the Discord people for advice?

Thank you for 'bump topic' option.
I don't checked with the Discord people for advice.

Dang. I've been on this board for years and did not know about that feature.

Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
The option is only available to the user who has the first post in the topic. Other posters in the topic will not see that option.

Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
I figured that was the case, when I didn't see the option for this thread, but I appreciate the confirmation.

Here is a screenshot of the options when one clicks the wrench icon at the lower left of the page. Bump topic is the third option.
I do not use Discord, but I know I've seen others ask questions about it on this forum.

Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
Provide some hardware information:
Do you use the built-in in the camera mic, another attached to the "audio combo jack", a third-party usb mic?
What is exactly the problem, hissing / distortion or no sound at all?

Code: Select all
Audio:
Device-1: AMD vendor: Lenovo driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel
bus ID: 00:01.1 chip ID: 1002:15b3
Device-2: AMD Family 15h Audio vendor: Lenovo driver: snd_hda_intel

Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.4.0-122-generic
Notebook is https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/en/en/prod ... v145-15ast
The problem is that there is only hissing and crackling, although using OBS or audacity, the sound is recorded normally.
Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
I assume that you tried the rest of discord settings (Noise reduction etc). Have you confirmed that others cannot indeed hear you either on Discord or Telegram? Cause if the sound manager's input sensitivity slider is fluctuating when you speak on Discord but you cannot hear yourself while testing your mic, you may try change the output device instead.
People would probably advice you at this point to install pavucontrol -

sudo apt install pavucontrol
and attempt to set sound device defaults with this tool. I never used it on MInt.Re: Problem with the microphone in Discord
interesting fact: if I set different volume of the recording left and right microphone, I can hear it in discord. I guess this is not what is needed, and I repeat Obs and audacity work without it
