Wifi problems

Post by Elco03 »

When I run the following commands:

sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi

sudo modprobe iwlwifi 11n_disable=8

my wifi is amazing. But, when I restart my laptop, it goes back to being trash again. How do I make this the default?

Copy/paste this line into the terminal and press Enter:

Code: Select all

echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=8" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-options.conf
Reboot and test.

Didn't work, rebooted and did a speed test, got back like 30 Mbps, but when I type the two commands in the terminal manually and do the speed test i get back like 200 Mbps

I have been going at it for like 5 hours. I tried many things, even tried making the commands run at startup by placing them in /etc/rc.local but nothing. Maybe I did it wrong? Is this even possible?

Looks like a rather tweaked system. I don't like that nodesource thingy.... This might account for unexpected behaviour by your system.

The modprobe.d modification should work, and has done so in the past on a system of mine. Do you have the opportunity to test that modification in a vanilla (completely default) Mint system?

Well, I don't have a spare laptop if that's what you mean. Could I maybe somehow make the two terminal commands that fix my problem run every time I turn on my laptop?

Actually, the modprobe.d modification should take care of that. But as that "royal" method doesn't seem to work, let's try this cumbersome alternative:
