Change in folder arrangement and Window size and placement [SOLVED]

Post by warobison »

Absolute Beginner: A day or so ago, my opening screen changed so that the home, computer, and other folders line up horizontally across the top of the screen rather than vertically along the left side. Additionally, when any window is opened, it opens full screen across the top rather than smaller in the center of the screen. I cannot recall anything that I did to cause the change; also, I do not know if it happened after any update. Thanks for any help.

(Equivalently, you can use the command inxi -Fxxxmprz on the Terminal.)

Well since you haven't provided any system details. We're stuck on a guessing game to keep our recommendations coherent enough.

If you're using Mint Cinnamon like I am...

main cinnamon menu > " windows " without quotes > " Behavior" button/tab up top, The section of " moving and resizing windows" .. The first one just under that title " Location of newly opened windows " set it to " centered"

Thanks so much. I also learned to resize the windows. Now, I can only wonder what I might have done to have it change in the first place.

:D warobison- don't sweat it. You'll have a few more of those moments. It's just a part of the "learning how Linux works" world and a natural part of life too. Cheers
