booting on Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 2 doesn't work (mostly)

Post by anna-maria »

Linux Mint with Cinnamon is rather newly installed on this system, and I've only been able to boot it a few times since then.
Booting recovery mode from Grub menu works.
Most times the boot process stops at the Mint splash screen. It magically booted just now, so I'm able to retrieve these system infos:

You can try to install a newer kernel, at least 5.19 or higher. The kernel handles ACPI so it could solve the problem.

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install linux-oem-22.04c
This installs the 6.1 oem kernel.

Do you mean the proprietary ones? They can be installed via the GUI driver manager, yes?

That's not true, it's a dual GPU system.

@anna-maria, can you post the output of:
uname -r
to make sure the kernel update worked?

You can try to update the BIOS. Here is the link to the download site, check again if it is the right model. Unfortunately Lenovo only allows updates from Windows.

Pretty much everyone has those messages. They are not relevant to booting problems.

There have been some issues with getting the Nvidia driver loaded when using the 6.1-oem kernel so we may need to have you run the command in this post, but let's see your data before you do that.
