Hello again to everyone
I have just installed mint 8 main edition and it works fine except for the proxy.
I managed to set the proxy for most applications, such as synaptic and the software manager, but when i try to update the drivers for the nvidia gpu or the wireless driver i get the following error message:
Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/r ... 6_i386.deb 407 Proxy Authentication Required
I also tried to install them using envy NG, but after removing the current driver it encountered the same problem, so now i'm struck with basic graphics.
What can i do to solve this issues?
Tanks in advance

Re: Using envy with a proxy
Is this your proxy? Just to be sure so it's not some proxy you run into on the road407 Proxy Authentication Required
How do you authenticate?
Was a long time since I used a proxy
Re: Using envy with a proxy
It's the proxy of my university, i have to authenticate using my username and password.
In the end i managed to set up some drivers by using apt-get from the terminal after logging in with http_proxy=http://username:password@yourproxyaddress:proxyport.
Still, most of the applications that require internet connection like the driver update do not work and have no option for proxy authentication.
Do i have to edit their files?

Re: Using envy with a proxy
mintUpdate (no longer called that though) and synaptic have settings for proxy, jockey (Hardware drivers applet) does not
