[SOLVED] Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapt

Post by mtrix »

Hello there,
I am pretty experienced windows user(like 10yrs)... And i am also a bit of C# developer(already installed mono and enjoying it  ) and i we been constantly nagging myself about going to linux... but could not find "my" distro... and i did not want to switch because i feel total newbie here :o)

But as i got my laptop(Dell Inspiron 1520) without any os i decided to give mint a try.... my friend recommended me it as he said it is based on debian (and i tried to get friendly with debian long time ago but i did not succeed :P)

So here i am trying to get all things working.... and everything seems to be working except of 1 thing:
03:01.1 SD Host controller: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C822 SD/SDIO/MMC/MS/MSPro Host Adapter (rev 22) at least it is not shown in Computer....

Anything i can do to make this little thing work? :)

Secondly is there any good book about comparing windows directory structure to linuxs' ? cause i am a bit confused with the stuff i got in / 8)

Have you tried inserting a card in the reader to see if it appears?

You don't need to go looking for any devices, if the reader is working the card will appear on the desktop and in Computer, assuming the card can be read of course.

You will need to provide more information as per the forum rules in the Red bar at the top. Also the output of dmesg | tail entered in a terminal immediately after a card has been inserted.

Sorry we still need the information requested in the forum rules as well. If the reader is connected by USB we need lsusb output in particular.

Many internal readers are still connected by usb, however yours is on the pci bus and is detected OK.

Oh well, glad you found that. It does say SD and MMC cards should work however, but let me guess - you have a MS? :)
