newbie questions conc. fluxbox 8

Post by louis.bergmann »

hello everybody

on an older laptop I just installed the fluxbox version 8.

- before that I had the fluxbox version 5 on it. it was playing a very cool sound at startup. how can I have this on version 8?

- can I create shortcuts on the desktop?

thank you for your help
greets louis

The best way would to have the image on a CD, boot into the OS and copy the file to the harddrive or to a USB stick. Then paste it back into version 8 after rebooting.
I don't think you can create any graphical shortcuts, only keyboard shortcuts http://fluxbox-wiki.org/index.php/Keyboard_shortcuts

For the startup sound, you can install a command line audio player like aplay or mpg321 and add something like this to your ~/.fluxbox/startup before 'exec fluxbox'

Code: Select all

aplay /path/to/audio.wav &
For desktop shortcuts, you can use rox-filer.
