Where are the programs?

Post by Gunivortus »

For the first time I installed Linux Mint ...yes, I'm an absolute newbie. :-)
Installed it in the Sun Virtual Box, the Host system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
The install went fine.... I think..... The Virtual Box installed it from the ISO file.
But on the desktop there are only two icons. a Computer and a <name> Home icon.
Where is all the software that should be in the DVD package?

Which menu? Where?
There are only those two icons on the desktop and in the right corner below a sound, a network and an information button, next to the date and time.
that's all.

There should be a menu button on the left end of the panel at the bottom. Click that.

That's odd. Right click the panel (in an open spot), click add to panel, and add MintMenu :)

Thanks, that worked. Got the menu now.
The sun virtual machine seems a bit buggy though..... each change in Linux Mint needs a restart op the vp to get realized.
But now, I can try it out. :-)

Most odd. Try Gunivortus suggestion, and check your resolution is correct, and part of the screen isn't slightly to the left, pushing the bottom menu launcher off to the side, i've seen that happen before. Just a suggestion. :)
