Can't print from a web browser

Post by warriorpoet » Wed Jun 16, 2010 3:05 pm

I can print fine from everywhere else (GIMP, F-Spot, oOo, etc.), but prints from Firefox, Opera, etc. take 10 minutes to clear to a local printer, and won't clear a networked one.

Local printer is HP Deskjet D1560, Networked printer is Toshiba e-Studio 3530c.

Mint is updated Isadora x86.

Networked printer printed after a 30 minute hold time. Trying to repeat.

Says printer is not connected, but only on web-based print jobs. wired internet connection is rock-solid

Context and data: information about your system could have helped..

Windows and Linux mix or otherwise
  • Cups + recommended, smbclient, if not not already being used in a Linux+Windows mioxed Network
Second, save the web page from the Internet and print it locally, does that work ?
--if it does, then either your network is incorrectly configured or you are missing some IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) functionality: check cups, and I am presuming that you are using Cups as the print sever ?
  • With the cups server (for printing), the ipp file is located in /usr/lib/cups/backend-available/ipp
You can also install xpp, so that you get access to almost every Cups function available..
