Disconnected Router, why can't I connect directly?

Post by Canucker25 » Fri Jun 25, 2010 12:26 pm

Everything was running fine until I got rid of my router. Now when I try to connect to the Internet directly through the cable modem it wont establish a connection. Anyone know how to fix this?

First, power cycle the modem.
How do you have your computer connected to the modem and how many other devices are connected to the modem? Also, why did you ditch the router? Most all home routers have a built in firewall which offers you some extra protection online.
