Linux mint is fuzzy?

Post by bradtank44 »

so, i am on day 3 of running linux :) after few install problems i am now happily useing it... i only have 2 problems, one is with thunderbird and is irreverent here. the other, well i cant see. Yeah. So ever since i started useing linux Mint ( 64 bit edition, i have thought it was a little blurry, i just switched from my CRT to another one i had lieing around, i've never knowticed it (the crt) being blurry, but recently i was useing my sisters laptop and it looked SOO clear! maybe my crt's are old, i dunno, but i have never knowticed the blurrry-ness on Win Xp, any one have any speculations? ( I am going to switch to windows for a moment just to see if i still see the blurry-ness)

While still not LCd sharp, the XP blur isn't as bad as the Mint bluur.... :s that dosent make sense!

What's your screen resolution set to in Mint? If you want the sharpest image you should set it to the highest resolution you monitor permits.

@bradtank44

Can't help you much without some information about your system.

Open a terminal [Menu-->Terminal] and run this command and copy/paste the output here.

Code: Select all

inxi -F
(Make sure you use an uppercase "F" )

You have to make sure the images you download are large enough to cover the screen without needing to be scaled. Look for pictures of sizes 1440x900 or larger (But with the same ratio between length:height)
AMD Phenom 9550 Quad-Core Processor | ATI Radeon X1200 | Arch Linux | Gnome
2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo | NVIDIA GeForce 9400 | Mac OS X 10.6.4 |

Same problem here. I tried a fix mentioned in another post, but involved installing kernel updates that may not be
supported in Mint 9. The updates greatly improved my graphics with one little exception - I couldn't see the cursor!
