Cannot open YouTube videos in Totem

Post by sdim »

Hi,everyone.
Trying to play YouTube videos in Totem, gives the following error message:

Code: Select all

Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file
Is there a solution to this? I read something herehttp://linuxdesk.wordpress.com/2009/09/ ... ie-player/,but it could not fix the problem.
Just for the record,I do not have wireless internet,as the fix above, probably refers to that.
Many thanks.

I've never had any luck with totem so I un-installed the totem plugins from Firefox and installed gecko. This also installs gnome Mplayer which is one of the best in my opinion..

Use the preinstalled GNOME player, it is the same has VLC and have all the codec already

Thanks for the answers.
I tried opening a URL of a YouTube video in GnomePlayer, but it didn't work.
How can I use GnomePlayer to view YouTube videos?
