a weird prob with Linux Mint 10 KDE installation.

Post by Palash »

hello.. :)
i have a Windows 7 running in it.....i want to dual boot it with Linux Mint 10 KDE (JUST linux can also be done, no prob with that).... but for some reason, I dont know what, every time i try to boot Linux Mint 10 KDE, i get the error "Bootmgr is missing, press ctrl + alt + del to restart."....so, am not even able to start off the LiveCD or anything to do with the installation... :?

i have downloaded the Linux Mint 10 KDE version from the site, used the latest version of unetbootin to make a bootable pendrive.

however, this prob does not bother me when i try to install any version of Ubuntu Ultimate Edition.... i have tried out all kinds of distributions of Linux, but only the above mentioned work...

i once had a dual boot of Linux Mint 9 and windows 7, but i think, this prob started off after i formated the Windows drive and reinstalled it.... seems like the BootMDR (right?) has been over written...

i have searched for similar problems, but no one seems to have it... the problems are mostly solved by doing System Repair with the Windows 7 Installation CD, but this hasnt been useful for me....

i dont noe what other information i should add in...

PLEASE HELP!!! WHAT SHOULD I DO :?: :?:
THANKS :)

It sounds like either the iso file didn't burn to the USB stick right to make it bootable, or booting from the usb first isn't being selected in the BIOS settings. If Windows 7 is starting correctly then it is not likely a problem with the MBR.

the usb stick works fine in my friend's laptop and i have made sure that the USB stick has the highest priority while booting.
