Changing Google Search
Whenever I search for something in the Google toolbar in Firefox.
It directs me to: http://www.linuxmint.com/start/
I want to be directed to: http://www.google.com/
Instead.

Re: Changing Google Search
Add the "Add to Search Bar" Add-on for Firefox -> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... earch-bar/
From there I think you can go to http://www.google.com and add it through the quick search drop down menu.
[Or install the latest FF4.0 from the mozilla stable PPA ]

This will NOT correct the Search bar behavior, but does allow you to search Google without it.
I totally removed my search bar and just use the keyword.url string and a new tab.
If you don't want the I'm Feeling Lucky hit from the search, I can modify the keywork.url string to not behave that way.
NOTE: The string from FF3x is

Re: Changing Google Search
Have you tried disabling the "Mint Search Enhancer" plugin that's installed in Firefox? Not sure if it will work for you or not.
Re: Changing Google Search
So you right-clicked on the www.google.com search bar, and selected "Add to Searchbar.."? Then set up the name and selected it from the quick search drop down menu?kh3 wrote:Didn't work at all.proxima_centauri wrote:Add the "Add to Search Bar" Add-on for Firefox -> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... earch-bar/

Re: Changing Google Search
The "add to search bar" Firefox add-on solution, offered by proxima_centauri, does indeed work; I just verified it. Your newly-added 'plain google' should be at the bottom of the dropdown list of the searchbar. It doesn't replace the 'mint google', it just gets tacked on to the list with all the other search engines. You can then click "Manage Search Engines..." to rearrange the order of the list and/or delete the unwanted entries.
Re: Changing Google Search
Install the addon and restart Firefox. Go to www.google.comkh3 wrote:I don't see that anywhere.
Go to where you enter your search query box, right-click in the that box and you have the option "Add to Search Bar.."
You now add official Google search to the quick search bar, as indicated in your original screenshot, simply click the google icon drop down box and change the default search engine
