1. I'm not sure what you mean about playing a .dat file.
2. If you want to access your computer from another using VNC, use the "Remote Desktop" feature in "Preferences" in the menu. If you want to access other computers using VNC from your own, use vncviewer. For more information, open a terminal and type "man vncviewer".
3. This I don't know.
4. Put in the blank CD or DVD. It will appear on your desktop. You can then drag files into it, and then finally click "Write to Disc" when you're done.
