Help with Synaptic Package Manager in Mint

Post by padguy »

Hi,

When I go into synaptic package manager in Mint and choose "settings" - "repositories" I only have three tabs to choose from "LinuxMint Software" - "Other Software" & "Authentication". Where is the tab for "Updates" that is available in Ubuntu? I am attempting to install a VPN and in order to do this I need to check the "Pre-released Updates" which is located in the "Updates" tab in Ubuntu but there is no "Updates" tab in Mint.

Thanks so much for any information.

Best!

My update repositories are shown under the other tab. I would think yours should be also.

I see the other tab but I don't see the ability to check "Pre-released Updates" - do you have this?

Thanks!

A question about the listings on Synaptic Package Manager.

I recently installed Linux (Mint main, 32 bit) from a CD-R that i obtained from a Linux shop.
I did carry out some updates but only those listed with 1 and 2.
Going to the synaptic package manager i see the following listing:
Installed 1422 packages
Installed (manual) 1422 packages

I did not install any packages myself. So does "Installed (manual)" include the packages that were installed by default or has the supplier of the CD installed those?
Thanks.
