[Chromium] html5 media problems [solved]

Post by mintuser » Wed Apr 20, 2011 2:43 am

Hi,

with the latest version of Chromium I'm not able to play html5 media such as these examples:

http://www.jplayer.org/latest/demo-01/
http://www.jplayer.org/latest/demo-01-video/

I'm curious to know, if this happens only to me.

Used version: 10.0.648.205 (81283) Built on Ubuntu 10.10, running on LinuxMint 10

Regards

On Chrome 11.0.696.0 on Windows it works fine. Will try Linux asap.

Would anyone else test it, please?

Google Chrome 11.0.696.50 beta

Both work fine.
--------

BUT,

on Chromium 9.0.597.84 (72991) Built on Debian 6.0, running on Debian wheezy/sid

both do NOT work.

======================

EDIT:
Now working in Chromium 9.
I had "NotScipts" running on it.
NotScripts - Version: 0.9.6 (Disabled)
A clever extension that provides a high degree of 'NoScript' like control of javascript, iframes, and plugins on Google Chrome
When I disabled it, both samples working fine.

This is strange. I don't have any extension installed that could block the media.

I have the following packages installed:

chromium-browser
chromium-codecs-ffmpeg

Are there any codecs missing or what else may be the problem? Using Firefox it works, so it must be a Chromium related problem.

Chromium 10.0.648.204
Chromium Browser-inspector

I dont have or even see listed in synaptic?
chromium-codecs-ffmpeg
I do have

Code: Select all

gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
these are all default plugins as far as I know.

You an older version installed than me.
10.0.648.205
Can someone with .205 please test it?

I cannot say why you don't have chromium-codes-ffmpeg via Synaptic. For me its always been a default package.

gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg is installed as well.

And these are my plugins. Way less than you have...

Any other ideas why it doesn't work on my system?

I figured it out. Instead of chromium-codecs-ffmpeg you have to install chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra.

If I could confirm this is solved, please? If so, could you edit the subject line of your original post to reflect that? Many thanks.
