Grub is the Linux bootloader. It overwrites the Windows MBR(master boot record).
If you have a Windows install DVD: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392
If not, you could do a temporary install of Mint (again) to be able to boot into Windows and fix it from there. Then reboot to make sure, and delete the Mint partition. You can restore the Windows bootloader from within Windows with EasyBCD: http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/R ... th+EasyBCD

Open a terminal window, type in and copy/paste here. This will read all the pci devices on your system. Hopefully your sound card will be listed. That is a good place to start.
