How to install a software

Post by jeffreylbrown94 »

I like VMware player on my desktop running windows 7, but I also want it on my laptop running linux mint. I went to the vmware website and downloaded the vmware server (because I don't know which software is free and works on linux), but how do I install it? Did I download the correct one?

You have downloaded the wrong thing ;)

Grab the appropriate .bundle from this link - you'll need to register or login.

Open a terminal and navigate to your download folder. Then enter the following:

Code: Select all

chmod +x VMware-Player*.bundle
gksudo bash ./VMware-Player*.bundle
The installation will start, and will guide you the rest of the way

I downloaded the file and opened the terminal. I saved the bundle to the download folder. What do you mean by navigate? I open a new window and see the package but when I go to the terminal and type the code: chmod +x VMware-Player*.bundle gksudo bash ./VMware-Player*.bundle it says no such file or directory. my username is jeffrey on my laptop if that helps.
