Mint 11 and IONITX driver

Post by herrrossi666 »

Hi,

I would like to install the proprietary NVIDIA driver for my Zotac IONITX mainboard. In "Additional Drivers" a lock is shown in the icon, which I don't understand. The menu "Additional Drivers" states further that "no proprietary drivers are in use on this system". It finally states that the "driver is activated but currently not in use".

How can I use this driver?

Have you tried switching the PC off and back on again...?

Yes, I have restarted the computer a couple of times since then.

Please open Terminal from the menu and execute this command:

Code: Select all

sudo nvidia-xconfig

I have executed the command and get the following result:

Using X configuration file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".
Backed up file 'etc/X11.conf/xorg.conf.backup'
New X configuration file written to 'etc/X11/xorg.conf'

In the "Additional Drivers" Menu I still get "Driver activated but not currently in use".

That Additional Drivers program often says 'activated but not in use' when it is not true. Please reboot and it should be working.

If you want to be really sure it's working, you can post the output of this command:

Code: Select all

inxi -Gx
Somewhere on the second line, there should be NVIDIA + the version number (173 or 270).

Is this what it should say?
