Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse not Working

Post by danton »

Hi,

This is my first time using the Linux OS and I'm having trouble with my Logitech Cordless Desktop LX 700 USB keyboard and mouse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've installed Mint 11 64 bit with a dual boot configuration; with XP in one hard disk and Mint on another and everything seems to have gone well. Through GRUB I can boot to either OS just fine.

The keyboard and mouse work fine in XP, the bios, and GRUB. But within 30 seconds of the welcome screen popping up in Mint, the mouse freezes and about 60 seconds later the keyboard stops functioning correctly (it rapidly repeats the same key stroke over and over).

I've tried all the listed Logitech keyboard configurations/drivers listed with no success.

The forum suggested I run lspci and lsusb in a terminal so here are the results of that:

The first thing I would try would be to connect a different keyboard and mouse, just to see if the same thing happens and to isolate exactly where the problem lies.

There are a few websites for that hardware that you may find useful;-
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/KeyTouch

I found a report on a similar problem (http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/suse-l ... -time.html), which seems to suggest that connecting a USB-PS/2 adaptor might help.

When it locks up, can you reconnect the mouse or keyboard through the button underneath?

Thanks for your fast response.

I tried to install the Keytouch software as suggested in one of the article you recommended and got this response in terminal:

sudo apt-get install keytouch keytouch-editor

I assume that means it may not be packaged with Mint? At least I was not able to locate the program afterward.

The good new is that things seemed to have resolved themselves. The keyboard ans mouse now seem to be working fine! I'm not sure what has change from the dozen or so previous start-up,s but I've tried several times to try to recreate the problem and both devices appear to be stable now.

So the problem seems to have resolved itself.

Thanks for your help.

Good to hear that it is resolved.
I would like to point out an observation from your first post :

Two of your USB Hubs are the old 1.1 . . you are not using the faster USB 2.0 hubs ?
