Hi ..Till Mint 10..one could completely hide the Gnome panel by launching Gconf editor and navigating to Desktop>Gnome>Session>Panel.
I see no such option in Mint 11.
I want to use AWN and hide Gnome panel.How do I do this?

If you right click on the panel-->Properties, you can choose either the autohide or show hide buttons. the show hide buttons will give you buttons on either side of the panel. it will hide when you click on either of them.
