SOLVED - creative zen and gnomad

Post by wiab4355 »

Hello everyone

Just got back after a year with Win7 - I seem to remember Gnomad working with my Creative Zen player, but it doesn't seem to be in the repos any more and neither Banshee nor Rhythmbox will recognise the player out of the box as it were. Can anyone help, please?

remoulder

thanks for the thread; I tried it but trouble here ****

Steps to follow:
- open synaptic
- search for: libmtp8
- mark libtmp8 for complete removal and remove it
- close synaptic

****- install: libmtp8_0.3.7-3ubuntu2_i386.deb using GDebi

- open synaptic
- search for: libmtp8 again and lock this version so it can not be updated
- close synaptic
- install: gnomad2_2.9.4-0ubuntu1_i386.deb using GDebi
- connect your ZEN: it will be automatically mounted in Ubuntu 10.10
- unmount you ZEN
- open gnomad2.

I think GDebi is installed but I don't know how to use it (or even open it for that matter)

Anything else?

Just double clicking on a .deb file will open it.

Hi wiab4355,

You can also try gmtp (gmtp.sourceforge.net). Not a fancy gui, but very functional!

Thanks to all - got it working!

Found the .deb files with Google - installed no problem with GDebi (although double-clicking opened them in archive manager, but right-clicking showed GDebi there, so, still, thanks).

Great community work.
