close,minimize and all panel items disappeared..!!

hello,

Am using mint-10 from last two months,but not know much about commands and all...Actually while installing new packages, system asked me to restart some application, some went well. But in the middle i lost close, minimize and other panel items... :( after rebooting there were no panel items as well as no wallpaper...and got a message "unable to contact the Wicd daemon dbus.Please check that your user is in the netdev group" ..every icons gone dumb, i mean no icon images.. i dont know what's wrong.. :shock:

could any one fix this..??

Install compiz and mint theme packages and reboot the computer.
