Help with integrating Firefox with Mint11

Post by ewgk »

Done: uninstalled Firefox4 and installed 3 in mint.
By extracting tar.bz2 and moving to opt/firefox through root.
Made a link from firefox.shell script to desktop.
All is working just fine, except mint does not know firefox is installed and asks me how to run it first, each time.
How do I integrate firefox with mint menu properly? Or how to let mint know that firefox is in fact installed and the default browser.

It comes as a great relief that stupid questions are overlooked.
The following "Beginners Guide" might be helpful to other "out-of-the-box" newbies!
