browser streaming

Post by intval »

Hi.
I'm trying to visit a radio station website.
Ubuntu out of the box would play the stream in both chrome and FF.
What do I need to do with Lisa to make that work either. Thanks in advance?

P.S - tried to install mplayer and mozilla-mplayer (which is not in the repo at all) but didn't help me.
Maybe i haven't done that properly.

:)

Sorry I'm not sure what's happening with you particular install there. That station is playing fine here in both FF and Chrome.

I've boot in live cd mode and tried it again - still no success.
I guess the livecd download says "no codecs" therefore it's something related to codecs stuff.
Can't figure out what is it.

Ofc ubuntu-restricted-extras and mint-meta-codecs are installed

That explains it you will have to have the DVD if you want it to work in live mode.
you can add the codecs you need but you would have to do that every time if your using live mode.

I ran live mode just to test whether it would work there or not.
I've upgraded my installed copy to DVD version and still had no success. The radio wouldn't stream anyway.

Works perfect with both VLC AND GNOME Mplayer, but not in FF / chrome.
That does solve this particular issue, but still looking for a solution for the general case.

Code: Select all

gecko-mediaplayer is already the newest version.
