Hello,
I've been using Linux Mint 10 Julia and would like to upgrade to Mint 12 Lisa.
Do I need to do a fresh install then delete the older version or is the Julia up gradable as an update.
Also I plan to install Mint 12 on a USB memory stick to use on other computers both 32 and 64 bit which are different downloads. What capacity USB will I need?
Brian

Re: Upgrade from Mint 10 to Mint 12
You are correct, in your assumption that doing a 'fresh install' of Mint-12 would be best.
Instead of attempting to upgrade from Mint-10 to Mint-11 then to Mint-12.
While, you 'can' upgrade from one release to the next - you cannot spin a release.
While the complete .iso image of Mint-12 is around 1.3 Gb ... most find a 4Gb USB-flash-drive works best.
And a 4gb flash-drive is relatively inexpensive.

Many thanks.
Will the new version install in the same partition or make a new partition.
I do nave lots of room on the hard drive.

I would install the new Mint over the old Mint, on the same partition - since you don't have extra hard-drive space.chinook wrote:Many thanks.

Don't forget to "back-up" everything - first. Data files, pics-video files, config.scripts, browser-bookmarks, etc ... save everything to a USB-drive or external hard-drive.

Also, I find this helpful when going from one version to another.
Linux Mint 20.3 (Cinnamon) 64bit.
