I'm new to Linux Mint.
Whatever I do, I get a grey transparent border at the bottom of my screen. I can not click anywhere within region, making it impossible to use many softwares (see Screen shot).
How do I get ride of this *$@)è%§ ? It comes right from the Linux Mint Install, apparently.
Can't use many softwares

Re: Can't use many softwares
Am I the only one to get this problem, and to think the guy who invented this is crazy? What the hell is this for?
Re: Can't use many softwares
Yes, you are the ONLY Person on the planet in the history of Linux to have this problem.fernand31 wrote:Am I the only one to get this problem...
when it happens again, Alt+F2 then
Code: Select all
compiz --replace
Re: Can't use many softwares
You cannot run compiz --replace on Mint 12.
Please press Alt-F2, type r and press Enter. Then it should disappear. Or logout and back in. Or reboot your computer.
This indeed happens sometimes on Gnome Shell, but not very often. I've had it once since I installed Mint 12 RC.

I guess it's obvious to everyone (except me) what version of LM he is running from the Screenie.AlbertP wrote:You cannot run compiz --replace on Mint 12...
So, What HE said.
Re: Can't use many softwares
Actually the top bar is clearly Gnome 3. But if you haven't seen Mint 12 yet you of course might not recognize it.

Re: Can't use many softwares
It is Linux Mint 12. BTW I got this problem after a fresh install, when I was doing an apt-get update.
But that works now - thank you.
$ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
DISTRIB_RELEASE=12
DISTRIB_CODENAME=lisa
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 12 Lisa"

Re: Can't use many softwares
Isn't this problem solved after just rebooting?
I also got this once but the next time it was gone.
