How to I copy file in terminal?

Postby grebarton » Sat Jan 26, 2008 9:56 am

What do I type in the terminal to copy a file from my desktop to replace a file in a restricted access folder?

It wont let me just drag and drop because of needing to be root.

Possibility 1 :

Code: Select all

sudo cp /path-with-file-to-copy/file /path-to-copy-to/

Possibility 2 :

Code: Select all

gksudo nautilus
gives you nautilus with root access
