[Solved] Exclamation Point in Mint 12 - GNOME

Post by iRoNyUSA » Thu Dec 22, 2011 11:14 am

Ok, this is my first ever attempt at using linux... so far I'm really enjoying it, however, I cannot seem to figure out what the little exclamation point in the bottom right corner of the screen is. I know this is a big time newb question so I apologize in advance, but would still like to know.

That's removable drive notification. Try plug your USB drive and you will see a notification :)

Spectacular... thanks. I knew it was something simple, but just haven't been able to figure out what. Thanks again.

If you are talking about the blue exclamation point in the shield, that is your update manager. If you click it and input your password when asked, it will show you what updates are available.

I think he (she?) is referring to the exclamation point beside the workspace switcher on the bottom panel, which is a button to bring up the notification tray, since the bottom panel extension disables the lower-right hot corner that would normally bring it up.

karashata is correct, that is the item in question... I have yet to see the update indicator, which I now know is a blue exclamation point in a shield  .
