DNS Not working?

Postby Vong » Sat Jan 21, 2012 3:11 pm

For some reason I can't do DNS lookups with chrome/firefox on my new Mint 12 install. I've messed around with Linux before, but never used it as my main OS (installed it on my work LT).

I've googed all over the place and tried a ton of stuff. Tried disabling ipv6, tried disabling browser precache, tried various resolv.conf edits. if I do a dig, it works instantly (12ms). I've tried adding google dns addresses in my network settings. I'm going out of my godamn mind.

I even have a VMWare of windows XP running on the LT, and it can resolve web addresses no problem. That's actually where I'm posting from.

Well, in frustration I deleted the partition and re-installed mint. Thus far, the problem hasn't come back. Although, it was fun to transfer the 150Gb VMware image a second time.
