I'm using Linux from less than 24 hours and I have installed Mint 12. I found out about Cinnamon today. I have to install cinnamon-session package to get it installed in Mint 12. I used terminal command "sudo apt-get install cinnamon-session" to install it. It installed successfully but nothing changed. I even restarted my pc to see any change but nothing happened. What did I miss out? :?:

Uninstall that session deb and use

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install cinnamon

You have to log into it, that doesn't happen automatically - when you install Cinnamon you still log into whatever desktop you had before until you change it.

See 5a in this thread

+1 for logout, go to login page, before entering password just select which session type you want from the menu. I installed Cinnamon and gnome shell last night on my Mint 12 KDE install. Just logged out, clicked Cinnamon, entered password and it's up and running.

Thank you very much for simple clear words. I figured that out and I love it. :D
